Consistent typography is essential for a unified and professional brand experience. Open Sans is the official typeface for Umicore materials. It is modern, highly legible, and works across digital and print applications.

Open Sans was chosen for its clean, approachable design and excellent readability at all sizes. Using one typeface across all communications reinforces brand consistency and ensures clarity.

Open Sans is a free, open-source typeface, available without any licensing restrictions. This means it can be used across all platforms and materials without limitations.

  • Use Open Sans exclusively for all external communications (presentations, brochures, websites, social media).
  • Maintain sufficient contrast between text and background for readability.
  • Keep typography clean and functional—clarity always comes first.
  • Use the weights according to the guidelines.

DON´T

  • Do not mix Open Sans with other typefaces.
  • Do not use italics for headings or as a design element.
  • Do not distort or stretch the font—always keep proportions intact.

While working with the Thai language in Adobe Creative Suite applications always make sure that World-Ready Composer is active. It must be active for the Marks to properly attach to their anchors. You can choose between available composers from the Paragraph panel menu (Windows > Paragraph > panel menu). For example, in InDesign, you can use the Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer. Or in Illustrator, you can use the Middle Eastern Single-line Composer.
