Logo
The Umicore logo is made up of a “wordmarque,” which is the name Umicore, and a “symbol.”
The wordmarque is designed to give optimum legibility, clarity and strength.
The symbol, coupled with our wordmarque, incorporates several ideas:
- The circular shape suggests that we are at the core of the material world
- The size of the symbol is balanced with the size of the tallest letter in the wordmarque for best visual balance. This allows more emphasis to be on the wordmarque, relative to the symbol
- The symbol has been rotated so as to create the visual effect of a company that is productive, one that is embodying progress and forward motion
- A colour gradient has also been added to the symbol to emphasize the modern, progressive look, tone and feel of the brand

Do not
- It is absolutely forbidden to break down the Umicore logo into separate elements
- Neither the wordmarque [umicore] nor the symbol can be used separately; they must ALWAYS be used together
- Never modify or distort the Umicore logo
- Do not use the Umicore logo as a background or as a pattern
Logo usage

The logo is the primary representation of Umicore and must always be used on all materials prepared for communication. This ensures brand consistency across all touchpoints. For example:
- All digital applications such as web, social media, Umicore Connect, or other
- Letterheads and internal documents
- For any kind of branded items incl. stationery
- Posters and Roll-ups
- Signage
- Graphics for fairs & events

Alignment
The logo has a pre-defined placement on different lay-outs, normally right aligned for all materials. Please always check the branding guidelines for the material you want to create.
In digital applications such as web, social media and Umicore Connect (intranet), the Umicore logo can be placed on the left.
Color versions
The Umicore logo is available in a series of different color versions and file formats, and they should be used according to the most appropriate purpose and harmony with the background.
The colored logo should be the first choice for white and lightly colored backgrounds.
Single-color version
The single colored versions should be used either for one-color printing or to give enough contrast for legibility and for the marque to be clear.
Two-color version / Duotone
This version is used on applications such as stationery and for cost-efficient printing. The two spot colors are the Umicore primary blue and green.

Minimum sizes - print and digital
To ensure the Umicore logo is always clear and consistent, we have also established minimum sizes for digital (pixels) and print (mm) applications. Please note all measurements are based on the width of the Umicore logo.
Exclusion Zone
To maintain clarity and ensure the logo stands out, it must always be surrounded by sufficient free space. This space prevents visual clutter and protects the integrity of the logo.
The exclusion zone applies primarily to text and other content elements. However, if background images are used, they should never compromise the visibility of the logo. Avoid placing busy or high-contrast visuals within the exclusion zone.
No text, images, or graphic elements should enter this zone.

The width of the logo (X) is the key measurement used to define the surrounding free space. Maintain a minimum of 1/5 of X as free space on both the left and right sides of the logo. This prevents other elements from crowding the logo and guarantees a clean, consistent look.

When the logo is placed on its own, align it with its optical center along the vertical axis. This creates a visually balanced appearance.
There is some flexibility to achieve the best visual balance by using the dot of the “i” and the stem of the “i” in the wordmarque as the optical center. This ensures the logo feels naturally aligned.

The white space above and below the logo should not be equal:
Above: smaller space e.g. 3/5 Y
Below: larger space e.g. 4/5 Y
This ratio ensures harmony and reinforces the logo’s prominence.
