Gradient color effect
Our gradient is a flexible visual element that is used to highlight certain elements and content. Gradients add depth and vibrancy to our designs. Some examples on how to use them:
- Colored Headlines
- Inside folder page
- At trade shows & events
- For Signage elements

Do not
Do not use the gradient color effect as full-color background for brochures, roll-ups, posters or divider slides.
Always set the gradient at 45 degree, starting from the lower-left corner towards the upper-right corner.
5-color gradient

The 5-colour gradient is intended to be applied to the assets developed for a large-format print (e.g. banners, posters), as being composed of a larger amount of nuanced colors it provides better quality and a more vibrant effect on large-format supports.
The gradient can be used in different opacity versions:

-
#153B7DPantone 280C | RAL 5013CMYK 100-80-10-15 | RGB 21-59-125 (position 0%) -
#0068A8Pantone 301 C | RAL 5010CMYK 100-38-0-18 | RGB 0-104-168 (position 25%) -
#3AAA35Pantone 363 | RAL 6018CMYK 100-0-70-5 | RGB 58-170-53 (position 50%) -
#62AD2DPantone 369 C | RAL 6018CMYK 65-0-100-5 | RGB 98-173-45 (position 75%) -
#95C526Pantone 376 C | RAL 6017CMYK 45-0-95-0 | RGB 149-197-38 (position 100%)
3-color gradient

The 3-color gradient is intended to be applied to all the other assets used in normal format print, or presentation materials.
The gradient can be used in different opacity versions:

-
#0068A8Pantone 301 C | RAL 5010CMYK 100-38-0-18 | RGB 0-104-168 (position 25%) -
#62AD2DPantone 369 C | RAL 6018CMYK 65-0-100-5 | RGB 98-173-45 (position 75%) -
#95C526Pantone 376 C | RAL 6017CMYK 45-0-95-0 | RGB 149-197-38 (position 100%)
Graphical block shapes
Graphical block shapes help highlight important text or images. When applied thoughtfully, these blocks help draw attention to key content and contribute to a visually appealing, brand-consistent design.
Use graphical block shapes to emphasize highlights, such as essential messages, quotes, or images.

Design Rules
Corner Radius

To define the corner radius use the smallest document dimension (short edge X or Y) divided by 3.
1X/3 = corner radius
Additionally, when using smaller blocks in combination with larger blocks, or smaller graphics are used on pages, proportionally scale the corner by following the rule:
(1X/3) /3 = corner radius
You can proportionally scale down further by dividing the value by 3 when needed.

When using a combination of multiple blocks, the corner radius needs to be the same.
The gradient is only a placeholder - choose one or different image(s)!
For PPT we use the soft edges that are available within Microsoft. You do not need to re-scale those.
Spacing & Grid system

-
All graphical blocks need to have an identical corner radius
-
The spacing between the graphical blocks is 1/5 X. The X = 1/10 of the width of the document size
-
Maintain consistent alignement to the grid system
The gradient is only a placeholder - choose one or different image(s)!
Gradient block option
If the gradient is used within the block shapes, the following opacity options are possible:

Color options

- Next to the gradient option, all our colors are possible follwoing the guidelines on their usage. Light colors use Umicore blue text, all other colors use white text. The text should be easy to read.
- The grey blur option could be choosen between 15% to 25%. The text should be easy to read.
- Do not blur any other color.
Layering

- When layering graphical blocks, the block in front always needs to be smaller than the block below it.
- The placement of the small block is always in a corner. Equally placed in the chosen corner and within the empty text space around the the larger text block.
Text in block shapes

- Always use Open Sans.
- For large text use OpenSans Light, Open Sans Regular for smaller text
- Devide the block in a 10 grid and the minimum distance of free space around the text is 1X-1Y
- Headlines can be aligned on top, middle and bottom, left and right.
