Key layout principles
To build a strong and consistent visual style we work with these layout principles following our graphical and visual Identity.
10x/10y Grid System
All layouts are based on a 10x/10y grid, dividing the format into 10 equal columns (X) and 10 equal rows (Y). This unified measurement system ensures consistent placement, scale and alignment across all formats.
There should be no text placed within the outer 1x/1y area of the grid (Exception: Footer information or page numbers).

Logo
Always use the Umicore logo on all communication materials to ensure brand consistency.
Logo size rules
General templates follow these proportional rules:
- X < Y: the logo is 1.5Y wide
- X > Y: the logo is 1.5X wide
- X = Y: the logo is 2Y (or X) wide
If the minimum exclusion zone cannot be maintained at these sizes, the logo may be reduced—for example, to 1.25Y—to ensure adequate spacing.

Logo placement
- The logo is always right-aligned; however for digital (web, social media, intranet) left alignment is allowed.
- The logo is placed on the 10‑grid system while always respecting the exclusion zone.
- Standard placement: right‑aligned at 1X / 1Y, with the “e” of the wordmark positioned just below the 1Y line. This placement remains consistent across most formats.
Horizontal Layout Exception: In horizontal layouts where X = 2Y, the logo may be positioned above the 2Y line to maintain the exclusion zone and preserve visual balance. - No text may be placed above the logo, or higher than the top of the logo.

Colors
Apply the official Umicore color palette consistently to maintain brand recognition and visual harmony.
Contrast
Always ensure sufficient contrast for legibility and visibility of the logo.
Typography
Use OpenSans for all communication materials.
Graphical Elements
Use the gradient color effect and graphical block shapes to highlight content and organize information while maintaining clarity and brand identity.
Imagery
Follow the photography guidelines and add the Umicore color grading.
