Rules for creating a website

Our external audience should know us as Umicore, one company, thus we centralize all Group, Business Groups and Business Units information into the umicore.com - one main website. Therefore, the following rules have been created:

  • Creating BU or any other websites or webpages are not allowed. All requests must go through Group Communications.
  • Regional websites are allowed to focus on local community communications and local employer branding. Ownership stays with the regional communications team with alignment with Group Communications. All requests must go through Group Communications.

Any online activity that infringe the above rules will have to be taken down immediately.

Access to the CMS

The web team will solely manage the umicore.com. The main reason is to keep brand, UX and UI consistency on the entire website.A few exceptions can be made. Please contact Group Communications for any updates/changes or questions about the website.

How to report a bug

Create a JIRA ticket using the “bugs” category, in order for our developers to have a look quickly and provide feedback in an organized way: https://nocs.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals

If you don’t have an account yet, please create one or contact the web team to create a ticket for you. You need to log in via SSO.

Stay informed at all times

The web team posts updates, questions or requests, but also more urgent information such as the server downtime in this teams channel. If you are not a member of this channel yet and wish to be able to follow the digital news, please contact the web team.

UTM Tags

It is important to measure the efforts we put in projects and campaigns. That is why we created a new tool that allows us to generate UTM tags inside our URLs, in order to better track the interactions our visitors have with our website.

This tool is also interesting to use when you create a QR code, when adding link into emails/newsletters or when providing links to external collaborators such as an ad in a journal. Read all details in this connect article

Mailcoach – Newsletter tool

We have a new and free email marketing platform available for you to create and send out digital newsletters to your list of contacts, called 'Mailcoach'. This tool will enable us to reach out to our customers, partners, suppliers and job candidates in a more coherent and efficient way. Read all details in this connect article

Use Mailcoach for newsletters

Some of you were using Mailchimp in the past, but it is no longer GDPR compliant. Please use Mailcoach instead.

Add your videos on Umicore Youtube Channel

  1. Contact Group Communications to provide information and brainstorm together
  2. Create your video (using an external agency or not) following Umicore guidelines
  3. Think about subtitles: best option is NOT to have them on the video directly but as a separate svg file. Subtitles are not mandatory if the video is in English.
  4. Provide the .mp4 video and separate subtitles in svg file if needed to Valeria D’Andrea or Maureen Gryseels. They will upload it on youtube and give you the link.
